Easter definitely has to be one of my favorite days of the year. It marks a special moment in my life— the moment in which Jesus decided to take on humanity and not only die but live forever because He loves me. Still boggles my mind every year when I try to wrap my head around what exactly happened on that cross and in that tomb. I can’t seem to fathom the kind of love that Jesus seems to so freely give.
It’s the kind of love that I don’t think our culture here in America quite understands. Actually, I think we’ve missed the mark completely! The Jesus kind of love is a daring one. Bold, daring, and incredibly humbling. A kind of love that loves without judging. A love that is in complete solidarity with every single human experience and emotion. A love that makes you whole and complete physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. A love that does not control you but rather releases you to be free to be exactly who you were created to be. A love that builds resilience and stands firm amidst all of life’s heartaches. A love that embraces and gathers community together rather than pushes away into selfish individualism. A love that gives without ever wanting anything in return. A love that will sacrifice it all just so that you can comprehend your worth.
Even my words cannot begin to grasp what the Jesus kind of love is. I am excited to continue in life learning more and more about this amazing love that Jesus has for me and for all of humanity!
